The setting on the buttons also help you to know if the pot will be locked to capture steam in a pressure cooking setting or if you will be using the instant pot like a regular cooking pot or a slow cooker which cooks without pressure.

There are really only three buttons you need to know when you are just starting out with pressure cooking.
Set instant pot to saute mode and adjust the heat level to more place the glass lid onto your instant pot to allow the water to reach a low boil simmer.

Typically a slow cooker temperature range is 190 degrees for the low setting to 300 degrees to the high setting depending on the type of slow cooker.

Normal which is 190 to 200 degrees less which is 180 to.
