Installing Pergo Over Carpet

Pergo will not fit under door. Plywood is highly recommended when installing over high pile carpet. Since carpet is usually plush and soft your laminate flooring would not have the support it needs to keep the locking system sturdy. Homeowners may not want to go to all the trouble of tearing up carpet and padding.

Why not just tear up the carpet. After removing the shoe molding pergo fits close to the baseboard. You can re install the molding afterward or install a pergo shoe molding that matches the floor. Pergo laminate and locking engineered planks simply click together.

Pergo floors can be walked on as soon as they re installed. If you have severe allergies stirring up all the dust and dirt that may be settled into the carpet could keep you sneezing for weeks. Pergo hardwood must be installed above grade. No glue no nails no mess.

Pergo can be installed directly over most hard surface flooring. If you are using more than one sheet of plywood tape the sheets together at the seam. When placing plywood sheets over plush carpet lay them in the opposite direction the floor will go. Pergo laminate and engineered flooring can be installed on any level of your home.

Installing laminate flooring over carpet is not recommended in most installation situations.
